Paradise Road Rural Living, Glenorchy

Landscape Masterplanning and Assessment
Snow-covered mountains and open rural landscape near the Paradise Road development site in Glenorchy.

Located on the Glenorchy–Paradise Road, the project site sits within an area rich in natural character. With Rural Lifestyle zoning and the wider area classified as an Outstanding Natural Landscape, it was important that future building sites were carefully located and integrated into the landscape.

SITE provided initial advice on building platform locations, finished levels and integration with existing landform features. Detailed site analysis considered views, privacy, visibility from the road and protection of landscape values, with preferred homesites arranged within a framework of beech and mixed native planting, open grassland and existing landform.

Our role included design leadership through the resource consent phase, 3D studies to test building platform heights, collaboration with engineers on roading design, preparation of construction guidelines, and the final masterplan and supporting landscape assessment.

More than 5,000 native plants are being installed to help embed the buildings and roads within the wider Glenorchy landscape setting.
