The Streetscape shared lane concept was developed independently as a visioning exercise and shared with the Arrowtown Promotion & Business Association. It fundamentally reimagines the street as a people-first environment – transforming a vehicle-dominated corridor into a richly layered public space. By prioritizing pedestrian movement and experience, the design expands the public realm, slows traffic to a secondary role, and creates a cohesive, legible streetscape that invites lingering, social interaction, and everyday life. The proposal strengthens Arrowtown’s identity by elevating its heritage character and reinforcing Main Street as the cultural and social heart of the village.
